The Yonkers Recycling Center is an example of what good cooperation between builder and owner can accomplish. The City of Yonkers wanted a heavy masonry structure for their new recycling facility but hedged their wishes by also requesting bids for a more ecomonical steel frame alternative. We suggested a hybrid structure, which offered the durability of masonry walls combined with the economy of a pre-engineered steel frame.

The project was awarded 2000 Public Works Project of the Year by the New York Metropolitan Chapter ßof the American Public Works Association.
